This tin chromo lithographed toy is in working condition with excellent colors, see pictures. Ferdinand Strauss started business in 1918 , the original patent was 1910 and made by Lehmann , Germany. Strauss improved on the original patents and also issued a Thrifty Tom's Jigger Bank, a Tin Litho Mechanical Windup Toy. The Thrifty Tom Bank is the rare and hard to find, this was the mechanical bank version of Strauss's popular Tombo Alabama Jigger toy. The bottom of the base reads: Tombo The Alabama Coon Jigger Trade Mark Ferdinand Strauss Incorporated New York USA US Pat May 24, 1910 and Pat Oct 13, 1918. Ferdinand Strauss, from Alsace, France and New York was a toy importer in the early 1900's. During the World War I embargo of German toys, Strauss began producing his own. Strauss also employed Louis Marx and continued to produce a variety of wind-up toys until 1942.
